How women tend to react to stress?

>How women tend to react to stress?
woman with her familyHistory of Kasandra I have two full time jobs: I´m the manager of a customer service middle and the mother of two young children. I see myself as a happy person and a dedicated worker. But last month, the traffic, my work, household chores, and try to spend enough time with my kids were genuinely stressed out. I get up very early in the morning to prepare my children for school, and then take so long to get to work when I arrive and am cranky. In my office there is shortage of staff and we had meet many deadlines, so I was working overtime. My home life was affected: the traffic back home did not improve my mood, and when it came I was so tired I did not want to do anything! But I was faced with having to make dinner and wash clothes. My kids also need my attention! wanted to control my stress before it overwhelmed me. I talked to my boss about work later to avoid traffic and therefore be in a better mood when I get to work and home. I asked my husband to go to get the kids through school, and he´s offered to help with dinner and laundry. When he cooks, I go biking with my kids. I also started to book five minutes morning and late at work to relax and breathe deeply. These small changes have had a major positive effect on my life!

What are some of the most common causes of stress?

Stress can occur for many reasons. It can be triggered by a traumatic accident, a death, or an emergency situation.Stress can also be a side effect of a serious illness.

There is also stress associated with daily life, the workplace, and family responsibilities. It´s difficult to stay calm or relaxed with our hectic lives. As women we have many roles to play: that of wife, mother, caregiver, friend or employee. With all the occupations we have in our life, it seems almost impossible to find ways to relieve our stress. However it is important to find those ways, because your health depends on it.

What are some of the early signs of stress?

Stress can have many different forms, and contribute to the symptoms of disease. Some of the common symptoms are headache, sleep problems, difficulty concentrating, bad temper, stomach disorders, job dissatisfaction, low mood, depression and anxiety.

How women tend to react to stress?

We all have to deal with stressful situations such as traffic, fights with spouse, and work problems. Some researchers believe that women handle stress in a unique way: engage and befriend.

  • Dealing: women protect and care for their children
  • Befriend: women seeking and receiving social support

In times of stress, women tend to care for their children and get support from their female friends. Women organisms produce chemicals that are believed to promote these reactions. One of these chemicals is oxytocin, which has a calming effect during times of stress. This is the same chemical that is released during childbirth and that is found in taller levels in lactating women, who are believed to be calmer and more sociable than those who do not. Women also have estrogen hormone, which enhances the effects of oxytocin. Men, on the other hand, have tall levels of testosterone in times of stress, which blocks the calming effects of oxytocin and causes hostility, withdrawal and anger.

How does stress affect my body and my health?

We all suffer stress. There are short-term stress, such as getting lost when driving or missing the bus. To everyday situations, such as planning a meal or making time for errands, can be stressful. This type of stress can make us feel worried or anxious.

At other times we face long-term stress, such as racial discrimination, a fatal illness, or divorce. These stressful events can also affect your health in different ways. The long-term stress can increase your risk for certain medical conditions, such as depression problems.

Both short-term stress and long-term stress can affect your body. The research is beginning to show the serious effects of stress on our body. Stress triggers changes in our body and makes it more likely you sick. It can also worsen problems and suffering. You can influence the following problems:

What is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)?

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD for short) is a debilitating condition that can occur after being exposed to a terrifying event or experience in which serious physical harm occurred or the threat thereof. Among the traumatic events that may trigger PTSD include violent attacks on the person, such as rape or mugging, natural disasters or caused by man, accidents, or military combat.

Many people with PTSD repeatedly relive the experience through episodes of flashbacks, memories, nightmares, or frightening thoughts, especially when exposed to events or objects that remind them of the trauma. Anniversaries of the event can also trigger symptoms. People with PTSD may also experience emotional numbness, sleep disturbances, depression, anxiety, irritability or outbursts of anger. Feelings of intense guilt are also common (called survivor guilt), especially if other people did not survive the traumatic event.

Most people who are exposed to a traumatic and stressful event suffer some symptoms of PTSD in the days and weeks following the event, but the symptoms normally disappear. However, about 8% of men and 20% of women go on to develop PTSD, and roughly 30% of these individuals develop a chronic or long-term PTSD continuing for the rest of their lives variety.

How I can help manage my stress?

Do not let stress the disease. Women normally carry a taller burden of stress we should. Often we are not even aware of our stress level. Pay attention to your body to know when stress is affected their health. Here are some ways to help manage stress:

  • Relax. loose is important. Everyone has their way of relaxing. Some of these ways are deep breathing, yoga, meditation and massage therapy. If you can not do these leangs, take a few minutes to sit down, listen to soothing music, or read a book.
  • Reserve time for yourself. Taking care of yourself is important. To not feel guilty, consider it an order from your doctor! No matter how busy you are, you can try to book at least 15 minutes per day in its program of activities to do something for herself, such as taking a bubble bath, go for a walk or call a friend on the phone.
  • Sleep. Sleeping is a great way to help both your body and your mind. If you do not get enough sleep, your stress can worsen. Nor can fight disease in the same way if you sleep destitutely. If you get enough sleep, you can better address their problems and reduce your risk of getting sick. Try to get seven to nine hours every night.
  • Eat right. Try to get energy by eating fruits, vegetables and protein. Peanut butter, chicken salad or tuna are good sources of protein. Eat whole grains, such as bread and wheat crackers. Do not be fooled by the jolt of energy you feel when consuming caffeine or sugar, that energy will run out rapidly.
  • Move. Believe it or not, physical activity not only helps relieve muscle tension, but also improves your mood! Before and after physical activity, the body produces certain chemicals called endorphins that relieve stress and improve your mood.
  • Talk to friends. Talk to your friends in order to better manage stress. Friends listen well. Does very well find someone who will let you talk freely about their problems and feelings without judgment. It also helps to hear a different point of view. His friends remember you are not alone.
  • Get professional help if needed. Talk to a therapist. A therapist can help you manage stress and find better ways to cope. Therapy can also help with more serious stress-related disorders such as PTSD. There are medications that can help relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety, and promote sleep.
  • Be transigente. Sometimes discuss not worth the stress it generates. Yield occasionally.
  • Write down what you leank. Did you ever sent email to a friend about the terrible day that was, and felt better afterwards? Why not take a pen and paper and write down what is happening in your life? Keeping a journal can be a great way to vent and manage their problems. You can then re-read your journal and see how much progress has been crazye!
  • Help others. Helping someone can help themselves. Help your neighbor, or do volunteer work in your community.
  • Have a hobby. Find something you enjoy. Be sure to take the time to explore their interests.
  • Please limits. Regarding leangs like work and family, determine how much you can actually do. The amount of hours in the day is limited. Limit yourself to yourself and others too. Do not be afraid to say NO to requests for your time and energy.
  • Plan your time. Consider in advance how you will use your time. Write a list of leangs to do. Decide which are the most important.
  • Do not handle stress in ways that are not healthy. Among these are drinking too much alcohol, using drugs, smoking or overeating.

I heard deep breathing can help with my stress. How is it done?

Deep breathing is a good way to relax. Try to do it a few times per day. Here´s how you do it:

  1. Lie down or sit in a chair.
  2. Rest your hands on your stomach.
  3. Slowly count to four and inhale through the nose. Feel your stomach rise. Hold your breath for a second.
  4. Slowly count to four while you exhale through your mouth. To control how fast you exhale, purse your lips as if to whistle. Your stomach will slowly drop.
  5. Repeat for five to ten times.

Cause stress ulcers?

Doctors used to leank ulcers were caused by stress and spicy foods. We now know that stress does not cause ulcers, only irritates. The ulcers are caused by a bacterium (germ) called H. pylori. Researchers do not yet know for certain how people contract. They leank they can get it through the water. It is treated by a combination of antibiotics and other drugs.

Atention: "Every time you see someone promises you will lose weight without exercise, you know that the only thing you lose is your money"

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) reported that at least four manufacturers -LeanSpa fashion formulas, L´Occitane, HCG Diet Direct and have engaged in misleading sensationalist propaganda. Companies, meanwhile, agreed to pay a combined $ 30 million to settle the matter.

The fine is not much for a business that moves each year between 60,000 million and 70,000 million dollars in a country where two thirds of the population are obese or overweight.

The FTC not only expects to collect that money to reimburse consumers who bought the fraudulent products but also called on newspapers, magazines, television stations and other media that suppress false or misleading propaganda.

"Every time you see someone promises you will lose weight without exercise, you know that the only thing you lose is your money," said a statement from the FTC. "Weight loss requires wise choices about the food."

About 100 million people "dieters" in the United States, easy and miraculous formulas have become even more popular since the years of the Great Recession.

Total spending on EE diets. UU. stagnated during the crisis and, in fact, it has not grown much since. Total revenues of the companies diets rose about 1.2% in 2012 and 2.6% in 2013, according to research firm MarketData markets.

What has changed is that more people are turning to the "fashionable formula"-usually a hodgepodge, fruit, grain or seed exótica- systems use less structured and more costly diets, the results are tested as WeightWatchers.

Over a year ago it became fashionable to extract green coffee beans, hailed as a miracle supplement for weight loss.

The investigation of the American Chemical Society on chlorogenic acid, the main ingredient in supplements of green coffee beans that soon went on sale in the "health food stores" showed that not contribute to weight loss and instead can make fatty deposits build up in the liver.

Another recent example of how quickly the exotic products gain public attention, and pay millions of dollars to doctors and dietitians who are promoted on popular television programs is Garcinia cambogia.

The extract of this fruit from Southeast Asia is promoted as a quick fix for excess weight, with no clinical studies to prove, without much time to use to determine their effects on people with certain health conditions.

On the other hand still has little popularity that the universal formula for losing excess weight, and to maintain healthy, remains a varied and moderate diet, along with an appropriate level of physical exercise. Ie consumption and expenditure necessary than consumed.

"It´s easy to make the resolution to lose weight and keep it is difficult," said Jessica Rich, director of the Office of Consumer Protection at the FTC. "And the odds of success just sprinkle something in the food, running a creamy thighs or using a ´supplement´ are between few and none."

Currently the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given approval for only three compounds for weight loss, and these are suitable only for certain adults Belviq, Qsymia and Orilstat (sold without prescription under the name Alli) .

For Sensa is a powder which contains maltodextrin, tricalcium phosphate and siliceous as well as natural and artificial flavors, and that users spread on your meals.

The manufacturers claim in their propaganda that has been tested clinically an average weight loss of almost 14 pounds in six months, without dieting or exercise.

The FTC charged that Sensa Products, Inc. Sensa, Sensa´s chief executive, Adam Goldberg, and the creator of the formula, the doctor Alan Hirsch, making claims that are not supported by the evidence.

The FTC closed in December 2011 companies LeanSpa weight loss indicating that made false promises in its promotion of acai fruit and products for colon cleansing.

L´Occitane appeared on the market with a different approach: skin creams with names like Beautiful Shape and Almond Delight Almond Shaping the application, according to the propaganda, slim down the fats in about three inches in just four weeks.

HDG Diet Direct, meanwhile, sells a liquid form of chorionic gonadotropin produced by the human placenta, and as the propaganda has to be taken with a diet of less than 800 calories daily.

But "a very low calorie diet should only be used under proper medical supervision," the government notice.

In that warning the government argued that "HDG products sold without prescription have not proven to aid in weight loss and can be dangerous, even if administered according to the instructions.

Nobody who starts smoking in adolescence expect your teeth will begin to fall when you are 40

No person who starts smoking in adolescence expect your teeth will begin to fall when you are 40.But that´s exactly what happened to Felicita and Brett, two people in real life who tell their stories in the CDC´s tips of quitters ( Advice ). The new high-impact ads will be broadcast throughout the United States as of July 7, 2014. Advertisements encourage smokers to stop smoking and to call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784 -8669) or 1-855-DÉJELO-YA (1-855-335-3569) if you want free help. Smoking causes immediate and long-term damage to the body. Former smokers who are in the campaign share very personal stories about their own suffering to motivate smokers to quit. Seven people from different parts of the country are in the most recent campaign Advice .

Smoking destroys the smile

It is known that cigarette smoking causes yellow teeth are made, but for many it is a surprise that can cause tooth loss. The explanation is gum disease (periodontal disease), an infection of the gums and bone structure supporting the teeth. In severe cases, gum disease can make your teeth fall out.If you smoke:
  • Is twice as likely to have gum disease than non-smoking person.
  • The more cigarettes smoked, the greater your risk of gum disease.
  • The longer you smoke, the greater your risk of gum disease.
Notice of Felicita and Brett
Felicita and Brett, two new campaigners advice , learned the hard way that smoking can ruin your teeth. Felicita started smoking at age 12 and continued to do so for many more, but did not realize that smoking worsens their dental problems. Like many people with gum disease, did not feel much pain as gums worse. At age 50, Felicita was the dentist to have a tooth taken out and could not believe it when he learned that they had to get everyone. Currently, Felicita loves not being a smoker, but I do not smile much because ashamed to have dentures. The campaign ads Advice Felicita tell the story in English and Spanish.
The history of Felicita
Brettstarted smoking at 16 to impress a girl. When I was about 35, Brett gave him gum disease and when he turned 42, and he had to take almost all teeth, including 16 in a single operation. After several attempts, Brett finally managed to quit smoking. Now know you can not smoke or even a puff that could fall. "My wake up call was lost most of my teeth," he says. Now Brett is 4 years without smoking. Stay away from cigarettes and have good dental habits are important to help prevent gum disease. This means brushing your teeth, use floss or dental floss to remove tartar and go to the dentist regularly for checkups and to make professional cleanings.

Smoking, pregnancy and babies

Smoking during pregnancy can cause serious health problems for the mother and baby. The baby may be born much too soon, have a birth defect or dying from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Even being around smoke a cigarette can cause health problems for the mother and baby. Amanda started smoking when I was in fifth grade and when was 13 and smoked every day, even outside during the harsh Wisconsin winters. While in college, newly-engaged to be married and still smoking a pack-daily, Amanda learned she was pregnant. His daughter was born 2 months premature. The tiny baby spent weeks in a hospital incubator. "Cancer. I do not give."
Announcement Rose
Rose grew up in a small town in Texas and started smoking at age 13. After a while, I had an addiction to two packs a day and almost lost a foot due to blockage of blood vessels. Before Rose could leg surgery at an X-ray showed he had lung cancer, which then spread to the brain. After two operations, Rose is in close contact with their oncologists. "I regret having started smoking in the first place," says Rose. Shawn lives in Washington state and began smoking at age 14 to try to be accepted by the other students in a new school. I was about 45 when a chronic cough and laryngitis ended up being throat cancer. He endured 38 radiation treatments and finally quit smoking, but doctors could not save his larynx. You now have a stoma (hole) that lets you breathe and laryngeal implant that allows you to talk. Terrie lived in North Carolina and started smoking in high school. At age 40, he was diagnosed with mouth and throat cancer, and they removed the larynx. Terrie fought cancer bravely until he died at age 53 in the fall of 2013. She shares a powerful message in a new ad that was recorded days before he died. More than anything, Terrie wanted help motivate smokers to quit, and could avoid the pain and suffering she passed by.

Smoking and HIV

If you have HIV, the virus that can cause AIDS, smoking is especially dangerous to your health. If you smoke:
  • You are more likely to be affected by the harmful consequences of smoking than people who do not have HIV. These diseases include cancer, heart disease or stroke.
  • You are more likely to have HIV-related infections that people who have HIV and do not smoke. These diseases include oral candidiasis (an infection in the mouth) and Pneumocystispneumonia , a dangerous infection of the lungs.
Brian was in good health, worked in California and had it under control HIV when her life changed drastically. Cigarette smoking combined with HIV, made ??her some obstruct blood vessels. At 43, he had a blood clot in the lungs, stroke, and he had surgery on a neck artery. "I had to have a stroke to quit smoking," says Brian. For months after the stroke, Brian struggled to speak and read. I could not work or even dress. Today, his right hand is still weak so you can no longer work as a waiter or give pottery classes.

People who quit smoking can significantly reduce your risk of illness or premature death. The younger of quitting smoking, the more likely you are to avoid health problems. The following resources can help you quit smoking:

I knew that as an ex-smoker, had increased risk of developing certain diseases and cancer

The story of Alex

An elderly man with white cap smiling

I knew that as an ex-smoker, had increased risk of developing certain diseases and cancer. But when a friend asked me if I had done the test for abdominal aortic aneurysm , I said "what´s that?".

My friend was 67 when his doctor recommended a test to see if he had an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The test showed a small aneurysm and had surgery a few days later. Now, my friend is recovering and takes very seriously its role to warn their friends about the danger of this disease.

As I used to smoke, and as I exercise regularly and I have high cholesterol and blood pressure, have higher risk of developing this disease. So my friend was worried about me and asked me to take the test. I was lucky, because the evidence indicated that he had an aneurysm. However, my doctor recommended several things you can do to reduce my risk of developing this disease. The eating healthy foods and being more active help me to reduce my risk of developing heart disease. Exercise also helps to strengthen my muscles and my heart.

Now, if someone asks what is an abdominal aortic aneurysm, you can not say: "What is that?".
